Animation

6th grade students learn about the persistence of vision and the art of making short animated sequences.

A big thank you to The Union City Community Foundation for supplying our classroom with a Digital SLR camera grant!! We received five Canon Rebel T5 cameras for our animating and photographing needs.

Thaumatrope
Thaumatropes use the persistence of vision to blend two images together in an optical illusion.  This animation toy was created over 100 years ago.
Flip Stick
Flip Sticks are another animation toy that flip the images quickly to show a subtle change in movement, implying an action.
The sequence of movement is very important when you are making an animation.  Breaking your image story into slow, sequential steps helps imply movement between the frames.
