It's already been a year since our big show! The big idea of our art show investigated the personal spaces and shared places that we inhabit. We explored the idea of place throughout the school year, beginning with a school-wide collaborative quilt project during the first week of school. This quilt was a jumping point for the theme, informing us of where we like to spend the most time and what we have in common. Multiple approaches were taken to help students take ownership of their art and make connections to increase their sense of place.
We used art to identify important public places, learn about the history of our geographic location, solve problems to improve existing spaces, connect with each other, and celebrate the places and spaces in the city we call home.
